On Tuesday June 23, 2015 members of the Special Enforcement Unit conducted Seat Belt and Cell Phone enforcement throughout the Region.
Officers utilized mobile patrols and stationary checkpoints specifically looking for occupants failing to properly wear their seatbelts and distracted drivers.
A total of 37 Provincial Offence Notices were issued, 25 of which were for drivers and passengers not wearing their seat belts. In addition, one man was arrested for evading police officers at a checkpoint and attempting to flee the area.
The Niagara Regional Police remain committed to the safety of our roadways and would like to remind the public that your seat belt and full attention are the best lines of defense while driving.
