If you’re looking for some amazing outdoor fun that is a short drive away and totally affordable you should definitely look into Grand Experiences which gets you out on the breathtaking Grand River!
Located in the Heart of Southern Ontario in Brant County about an hours drive from the niagara region, you can enjoy nature at its finest in a canoe, kayak, raft, 12-person Voyageur Canoe or even do bicycle & hiking daytrips .
Grand River is South Ontario’s biggest river, largest forest & part of the Trans Canada Trail. A Canadian Heritage River with rare Carolinian forests are all yours to enjoy and we did just that this weekend in a canoe.
The really neat thing about the voyage as well is that the water is not too deep and anyone can do it.
We started off in Brant Park to drop off the car…..
From there a shuttle car picked us up to take us to the main hub to start our journey…
After a scenic journey for 15 minutes that included tobacco and corn fields we ended up in Paris Ontario at the Grand River Experiences headquarters…
There was lots of action inside with tons of equipment to choose from and then down to the main docks where folks were loading up…
Although we opted for a canoe, the group in front of us did a party boat which looked like lots of fun…

The views were spectacular…
Plus there was lots of wildlife! We spotted a deer …
Plus lots of interesting landscapes, rocky patches and periods of rough water which made the adventure exciting….
We paddled hard at times and because the water gets quite shallow in areas you could see the large rocks and moss underneath…The cool thing about the trip though is that the water actually propels you forward and even when you drift and relax your boat moves forward…
There were SO MANY different kinds of birds including Starlings, Red Winged Black Birds, Eagles and of course lots of Canada Geese…
Check out this bridge….we couldn’t figure out what the metal tubing was that was within it but it had a neat industrial feel…
I got really excited about here because we were almost back at the car and after 2.5 hours, well lets just say it was time to relax!
