According to police, on Sunday, January 19th, 2014 at 4:45p.m, Uniform Patrol officers of the Niagara Regional Police Service were called to assist Paramedics at 15 Gale Crescent in St Catharines Ontario.  Paramedics had originally been called in order to check on the welfare of a male resident in one of the building apartments. First Responders gained entry to the particular apartment and a male was found deceased inside.

The Niagara Regional Police Service Homicide Unit and the Coroner’s Office assumed control of the investigation and following an Autopsy the death was determined as a Homicide. The victim was identified at the time as 58yr old Mark Gilby. The investigation continued until February 6th, 2015 when an arrest was made by members of the Homicide Unit.

Charged with the alleged offence of First Degree Murder is Carl Quinton, 58yrs old from St Catharines. The victim and accused were known to each other but were not residents of the same building. Police are not releasing any further details about the investigation.
