As of this morning, Environment Canada has issued the following special weather statement in effect for:
- Niagara Falls – Welland – Southern Niagara Region
- St. Catharines – Grimsby – Northern Niagara Region
Significant snowfall for parts of Southern Ontario today.
Snow associated with a low pressure system over New England continues over Central Ontario and the Golden Horseshoe and will spread west to reach Southwestern Ontario this morning. General snowfall totals are expected to approach 10 cm over most of the area. However, higher totals of 10 to 15 cm will be likely over the Niagara Peninsula. In addition, gusty northerly winds accompanying the system could significantly reduce visibilities at times in falling and blowing snow. Motorists should be prepared for poor winter driving conditions.
Snowfall warnings remain in effect for regions near Georgian Bay to the Algonquin and North Bay areas.
The snow is forecast to taper off by midday over the Golden Horseshoe and this evening over central and Southwestern Ontario.
