According to police, since November 2014, members of the St.Catharines Street Crime Unit have been investigating a male suspected of selling prescription medication from his St.Catharines apartment. As a result of this investigation police obtained a search warrant on November 26th 2014. At approximately 3:30 p.m., police subsequently executed the search warrant and arrested two parties within the apartment.
John COSTELLO a 62 year old St.Catharines male has been charged with the following:
Trafficking in a Controlled Substance x 2
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5000
Fail to comply with his Recognizance x 3
Police seized a total of $2600 in prescription medication and $800 in Canadian currency.
COSTELLO will be held in custody pending a bail hearing which is scheduled for November 26th 2014. The other party arrested at the apartment was released unconditionally.
The lead investigator in this investigation states Detective Constable Ian Sills ” The selling of prescription medication is a problem in our community and the Niagara Regional Police will continue to pursue those individuals responsible”
