Niagara Regional Police say they are looking to the public for more information regarding a St. Catharines stabbing after the second suspect remains at large.
Initially, Police responded to a report of an armed person incident and then attended at a house on Forster Street near Scott Street where they located a male victim in his 20s suffering from a serious stab wound on September 16, 2022.
The investigation by officers determined that at 1:20am two masked men were confronted by the homeowner in the driveway of a Forster Street house. One of the male suspects was armed with a long gun. The other suspect, armed with a knife forced their way into the house and became involved in a fight with one of the residents. That resident was stabbed once. The suspect in the house was restrained and disarmed by people in the house. He was held until the police arrived and was arrested.
A K9 Unit and officers from the NRPS Emergency Task Unit cleared the house and then searched the area for the suspect who was last seen running towards Scott Street. The suspect was not located.
Uniform officers arriving on scene at the time of the call arrested one of the suspects. Micheal David Mulligan (22 years) of no fixed address has been charged with the Criminal Code offences of:
Break Enter and Indictable Offence (Assault with a Weapon)
Possession Weapon Dangerous Purpose
Pointing a Firearm
Disguised with Intent
Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Mulligan was held in custody to attend a video bail hearing to the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on September 16, 2022.
In the latest update police are looking to the public for any clues as the second unknown suspect in this matter remains at large. Anyone (residents or businesses) in the area with closed circuit security cameras, doorbell video cameras, or dash cameras are asked to review their footage for suspicious activity for the period between 12:30am and 2:30am on September 16, 2022.
