Niagara Regional Police say that a man in Niagara Falls has been arrested after a serious weapon assault.
On Sunday December 5, at approximately 3:00AM, Niagara Falls officers responded to a Niagara Falls house for a report of a serious assault.
Officers, along with Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics attended the house in the area of Lamont Avenue and Mundare Crescent. A male victim in his 40s was found suffering from a serious head injury. The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics and transported to a local hospital. He was later transported to an out of region hospital.
The initial investigation by officers determined that an argument had escalated to violence and the victim was struck with a kitchen stool.
Uniform officers arrested the suspect at the scene.
2 District detectives were assigned to the investigation assisted by detectives from the Forensic Services Unit.
Sebastien Joseph Picard (32 years) of Normandin Quebec, has been arrested and charged with the criminal offence of Aggravated Assault.
Picard was held in custody for a bail hearing. Picard attended a video bail hearing on December 5, 2021, at the John Sopinka Courthouse in Hamilton. He was held in custody and will reappear in St. Catharines on December 6, 2021.
