The City of St. Catharines advises the community that it is not under a boil water advisory.
This was just released after a recent blog post relating to boil water advisories in other parts of Canada earlier this spring has resulted in some misinformation and led to questions about whether St. Catharines is included,” said Mark Green, the City’s manager of environmental services.
“There is no boil water advisory in the City of St. Catharines. St. Catharines residents can be confident their tap water is clean and safe to drink.”
The City monitors the quality of its drinking water through a regular water quality sampling program.
Each year, the City takes about 10,000 samples and checks them for bacteria, chlorine, lead and other chemicals. If a contaminant was ever found in the drinking water system, the Medical Officer of Health from Niagara Region Public Health would issue a boil water advisory.
The City of St. Catharines is committed to providing safe drinking water to the community and has an excellent track record in meeting the requirements of the Ontario Safe Drinking Water Act.
