Rogers Communications and Bell Canada are two of Canada’s biggest internet service providers and it looks like they are getting ready to increase their monthly subscriber prices.
It’s reported that Rogers will raise the cost for most of its current internet plans by $8 a month, starting Monday and $4 per month for its lowest-price plan ( the one that delivers speeds of less than 20 megabytes per second).
Bell Canada will also up its internet prices by $5 a month for Ontario customers and by $3 a month for its customers in Quebec starting in April. On top of this Bell will also increase internet overage charges to $4 per extra gigabyte, from $3 per gigabyte.
Spokespersons for both companies cite that the price adjustments help fund improvements in the reach and capabilities of their networks.
BOTTOM LINE: If you use Bell or Rogers, expect to see your bill go up SOON. These rate increases are set to only affect Bell customers in Ontario and Quebec.
