Police say, in the spring of 2016 members of the Welland Street Crime Unit began an investigation into the sale of cocaine from an apartment in the area of Niagara Street and West Main Street in Welland, Ontario.
On Tuesday May 10, 2016 members of the Welland Street Crime Unit and St. Catharines Street Crime Unit executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant at the apartment. Rocco Munno, a 54 year old resident of Welland, Ontario who is currently released on bail as a result of two previous drug investigations, one in 2014 and one in 2015, was arrested and is facing charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, 3 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Proceeds of Property obtained by Crime Under $5,000.00 and 3 counts of Breach of a Recognizance.
Munno is being held in custody pending a bail hearing in St. Catharines, Ontario on Wednesday May 11, 2016. Police seized $4,950.00 in suspected cocaine in both bulk and pre packaged bags, $1100.00 in Canadian currency, $200 in prescription medication, $100 in marihuana, and various pieces of drug paraphernalia.
