Kim Craitor, ex-Liberal MPP, resigned over sexual harassment allegations , Premiere Kathleen Wynne now says. Speaking in Ottawa yesterday, she said ex-Niagara Falls MPP Kim Craitor, who resigned suddenly in 2013 and now serves as a Niagara Falls city councillor had been the subject of several complaints of sexual harassment.

Wynne said that human resources staff received complaints of Craitor that were then reviewed by an independent third-party. After reviewing the investigator’s report, Wynne said, she asked Craitor to resign, something he was willing to do.

At the time of his resignation, Craitor said in a statement that he was putting his health and family first. Wynne, meanwhile, issued a statement thanking the veteran politician for his service.

In her statement Friday, Wynne said sexual harassment in the workplace is “not an issue I take lightly.”

Wynne said she couldn’t identify Craitor sooner because it may identify the person who filed the complaint against him. However, the woman involved came forward and identified herself in a media report.

In response to the sexual allegations, Craitor said they are “unfounded and unsubstantiated” and that he didn’t want to resign from his job at Queen’s Park, that the party was not able to prove anything happened and that there were no complaints to police.
