According to police, in the afternoon hours of December 24th 2015, a male suspect entered a financial institution in the north end of Niagara Falls armed with what appeared to be a handgun. The suspect demanded cash and fled the bank after receiving a quantitiy of currency.
In short order, Detectives from the Niagara Falls Detective office identified the suspect and worked in concert with uniform personnel in Niagara Falls and Welland. The combined efforts of the officers involved resulted in the suspect being tracked down to a hotel in Welland.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of a 29 year old Welland man, identified as Chad Marko. Marko faces charges of robbery, disguise with intent and use an imitation firearm in the commission of an indictable offence. Marko was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody.
