Police say on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at about 10:30 AM, a motor vehicle was being driven southbound on Victoria Avenue at a high rate of speed. The vehicle passed two other vehicles traveling in the same direction, but lost control as it returned to the southbound lane. The vehicle then skidded across the northbound lanes, into the ditch, and struck a hydro pole. The hydro pole was snapped in half and a large part of it came to rest in the front seat area of the car.
The driver was treated at the scene and transported to the trauma unit of the Hamilton General Hospital where his condition is listed as “serious”. There were no other passengers in the vehicle. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
