There has been an issue of BROKEN SEALS and as a result the Canadian Food Inspection Agency is recalling a children’s snack and a baby food product over concerns that there could be spoilage.
The recall involves, re-sealable squeeze pouches of Heinz “apple, broccoli, pea & brown rice” baby food, as well as Mott’s Fruitsations Fruit Rockets in the “Apple Strawberry Fruit Blend” flavour.
The affected Heinz product is 128 millilitres and bears the UPC code “0 57000 02990 6,” while the Mott’s product is 90 milliletres and has the UPC code “0 65912 00019 7” when sold individually and “0 65912 00020 0” when sold in boxes of four.
The agency warns consumers not to eat the products over concerns that they may have spoiled and if the food has been served to an infant or child, the CFIA recommends that parents monitor for signs of illness. Symptoms may cause upset stomach, vomiting and diarrhea.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of the products, the agency said.
The recall was triggered after a consumer complaint. The agency is now conducting a full investigation.
