According to police, on Wednesday July 15th 2015, at approximately 6:20pm, members of the Niagara Emergency Medical Services and Niagara Regional Police Service attended the variety store located at 17 Townline Road East, in the city of St. Catharines in response to a Robbery that just occurred.
Upon arrival police learned that a male suspect entered the store armed with a knife, confronted the lone female clerk and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. The clerk suffered injuries that required medical attention and she was transported to the St. Catharines site of the Niagara Health System where she was later released.
With the assistance from members of the public and a joint investigation with officers from Niagara Falls and St. Catharines, police were able to locate the suspect at a residence in Niagara on the Lake where he was arrested without incident.
Charged with one count of Robbery and one count of Aggravated Assault is 23 year old Cooper Brown of Niagara on the Lake. He was held pending a Bail Hearing.
The investigation is still ongoing and although there are no suspects outstanding, investigators are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have additional information to call the 1 District Detective Office at (905) 688-4111 ext. 4359.
