Josip Kulhanek, a Niagara Falls man was the latest lottery winner when he matched all five main numbers to win a second prize of $25,000 a year for life with Daily Grand in the March 4 draw. His ticket was one of two that shared the second prize.
“I was at the store when I decided to check my ticket. I thought the ticket checker said I had won $250, but the store clerk pointed out the additional zeros,” Kulhanek says, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.
Kulhanek has been a regular lottery player with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. since the days of Wintario. He is now thrilled to be celebrating his first big win.
Josip is now ready to share the good news with his family. “Nobody knows I won. I’m a good secret keeper! I look forward to telling my family tonight when I get home,” he smiled.
“When I realized I had won, it was like I’d been stuck by lightning,” Josip chuckled. “It was a wonderful surprise that I have been patiently waiting for. This experience has been great, and it feels good to win!”
With his windfall, Josip plans to do some work around the house, upgrade his vehicle and share with his children. “I may even celebrate with a trip to Croatia,” he concluded.
The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on McLeod Road in Niagara Falls.
