Niagara Regional Police say they are investigating a fatal hit and run that happened in Fort Erie.

The investigation into the October 6, 2024 fatal fail to remain collision on Silver Bay Road has been ongoing by detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Collision Reconstruction Unit.

On October 6, 2024, at approximately 9:00pm the male suspect driver attended NRPS Headquarters in Niagara Falls and surrendered himself for arrest. Tyler James MacDonald (37 years old) of Fort Erie has been arrested and charged with the Criminal Code offence of:

Fail to Stop After Accident – Resulting in Death
MacDonald was held in custody for a video bail hearing to the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on October 7, 2024.

Detectives have located and seized a black Jeep Commander with front driver’s side damage from a residence in Fort Erie.
