Niagara Regional Police say they have made an arrest in relation to a stabbing that took place in the north end of St. Catharines.
On December 13, 2023, at 3:50pm officers from the NRPS responded to a report of a stabbing on Vine Street north of Carlton Street. Officers attended at multi story residential apartment building. A male victim in his 20s was found suffering from serious multiple stab injuries from a knife. The victim was treated by Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics and transported to an out of region hospital.
The initial investigation determined the victim had been assaulted by a male suspect inside the building. The suspect is also believed to have sprayed the victim with animal repellant. The suspect then ran from the scene.
Uniform officers, and officers from the NRPS K9 and Emergency Task Unit (ETU) converged on the area to locate the suspect. At 4:15pm ETU officers say they located and arrested the suspect walking in the area.
Collin George Lauzon (27 yrs.) of St. Catharines has been arrested and charged with the Criminal Code offences of:
Assault with a Weapon
Aggravated Assault
Fail to Comply with a Probation Order
Lauzon is to be held in custody for a video bail hearing to the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on December 14, 2023.
1 District detectives have been assigned to this investigation. They are being assisted by the NRPS Forensic Services Unit. The victim and suspect were known to each other.
