Police say in early October of 2019, detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Service Niagara Falls Street Crime Unit started an investigation into the sale of illegal narcotics in the Niagara Region.
The investigations lead them to a residence in the area of Gilmore Road and Concession Road in Fort Erie and wth the assistance of the NRPS Emergency Task Unit on October 30th at approximately noon, officers attempted to arrest two persons as they arrived at the residence in a vehicle.
The suspect driver attempted to flee, causing damage to the vehicle and two NRPS vehicles in the process. Officers were able to contain the vehicle and two persons were subsequently arrested. Shortly afterwards a search warrant on a residence was executed and two additional persons were arrested.
No officers or suspects were in injured.
33 year old Omar Sinclair Frederick Downey of Etobicoke is charged with the alleged offences of:
– Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
– Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl
– Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine – Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Hydromorphone
-Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine
– Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicles
Also charged is 37 year old Maurice Edward Pratt-Downey of Toronto with the alleged offences of:
– Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
– Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl
– Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine
– Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Hydromorphone
Detectives seized $ 5200 as proceeds of crime.
Detective also seized the following suspected illegal narcotics:
– Cocaine 227.1g
– Cocaine – Crack 44.4g
– Fentanyl – 32.3g
– Crystal Methamphetamine 33.5g
– Hydromorphone 101 -12 mg pills
The two persons arrested in the residence have been released unconditionally by detectives. The males in the vehicle were held in custody and will appear at a bail hearing at the Robert S.K. Welch courthouse on October 31, 2019.
