Police say that on Monday at about 1 pm in the afternoon, they responded to reports of a cyclist found unresponsive lying in the south side ditch of East and West Line Road near Townline Road in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Initial investigation revealed that a 71-year-old St. Davids man was riding his bicycle on East and West Line when he left the roadway and entered the south side ditch.
He suffered life threatening injuries as a result and was transported to an out of town hospital in critical condition.
This incident remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit. Any witnesses who may have information regarding this incident are asked to contact investigators at (905) 688-4111, extension 5500.
