Looking for something outdoorsy and fun to do with the whole family this long weekend?
The Welland boat rental program officially starts this Saturday at the Welland Community Boathouse and its a great opportunity to get on the water and enjoy some nature.
The boathouse will be open on weekends from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the rest of the month starting May 19th, meaning residents can rent out a kayak, tandem kayak, canoe, pedal boat or stand-up-paddle board on the water of the Welland Recreational Canal.
The program, which last year saw a total of 3,594 rentals signed out is a chance to see first hand Welland’s recreational canal and natural areas.
The boathouse is located at 1087 Thorold Rd. E. Weekend hours will expand in June, with the house open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The boathouse is open seven days a week in July and August, on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
In September the hours switch to weekends only, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Kids under 12 are free. For full details visit the website HERE.
