Niagara Regional Police say that they responded yesterday morning along with Niagara Emergency Medical Services and the St.Catharines Fire Service to reports of a cyclist being struck by a motor vehicle on Main Street at Dalemere Crescent in St.Catharines.
Initial investigation revealed that a 59-year-old female resident of St.Catharines was riding her bicycle east bound on Main Street when she was struck by an eastbound 2017 Nissan Qashqai driven by a 27-year-old St.Catharines female.
The cyclist suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital before being transferred to an out of town hospital in serious condition. The driver of the Nissan did not suffer any physical injuries.
This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit.
