On Friday at about 1:21am Niagara Regional Police say they were called to Queenston Street in St. Catharines (between Calvin Street and Church Street) after a member of the public had been walking in the area and found an injured man lying on the sidewalk.
The male was treated at the scene by paramedics from Niagara Emergency Medical Service and transported to a local hospital where he died.
After the post mortem examination, the male victim was identified as 60 year old Glenn Joseph Hewer of St. Catharines.
In the latest update, police say they have now arrested a man in relation to the homicide of Hewer.
Facing the alleged charge of 2nd degree murder is 36 year old Shaun Joseph Fitzsimons of St. Catharines who is being held in custody pending a bail hearing today at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse.
