Remember the mass excitement when Amazon let the world know it was searching for a new site for its second North American headquarters? Well it appears the list is paring down significantly.
Amazon HQ2 as it is to be called is big news to wherever it lands because it is expected to invest over $5 billion in construction and grow this second headquarters to include as many as 50,000 high-paying jobs – it will be a full equal to the current campus in Seattle.
In addition to Amazon’s direct hiring and investment, construction and ongoing operation of Amazon HQ2 is expected to create tens of thousands of additional jobs and tens of billions of dollars in additional investment in the surrounding community.
Niagara submitted its own bid and even joined forces with Hamilton and Burlington to submit a second proposal, while also collaborating with Western New York communities for a third shot at getting Amazon’s attention.
Unfortunately in the latest news it is being reported that the only city being considered in Canada now is Toronto which is part of a short list that has been narrowed down to 20 candidates! Listed below are the current top 20!
