If you are one of the many Ontario residents who find it hard to afford hydro bills there is some good news ahead this winter.
The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has confirmed that folks will no longer have to worry about being disconnected by a utility during the cold winter months because they have not payed their bill. This Decision and Order follows the passage of the Protecting Vulnerable Energy Consumers Act, 2017 by the Ontario Legislature on February 22, 2017.
The time period covered for residential customers is between November 15th and April 30th of the following year. Any disconnected homes are required to be reconnected at no charge.
