Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying two individuals who they say appear to be actively targeting Niagara-on-the-Lake residences.
Investigation has revealed that the suspects go to the homes during the day time hours when they are vacant. They will attend the front door and knock; if the homeowner the suspects will make up an excuse or ask to use the phone and then leave without incident. If there is no answer at the door, the pair will attend the rear of the home and make entry, leaving with stolen property.
The suspects appear to attend several homes in the same area until they are successful in locating a residence with items they can steal. These suspects appear to prefer stealing small items that can be concealed in bags, such as jewelry and cash. (Pics below)
These suspects will be using a vehicle, which is likely driven by a third individual which will circle the block and pick them up when they exit.
Detectives are asking anyone sees suspicious vehicles or individuals to call police immediately.
