On September 20th, 2016 Members of the Guns Gangs and Grows Unit executed a CDSA search warrant at 462 Pinecrest Road in Port Colborne which is a location for a medical marijuana grow operation.
Police say, at that time they seized 3390 marijuana plants, which was 2877 more plants than allowed. However, at that time Police did not arrest anyone and continued their investigation.
This led to the execution of a second CDSA search warrant at the same Pinecrest Road location and on March 23rd, 2017, Police executed the search warrant and seized 2093 marijuana plants.
As a result, 63-year-old, Peter Muileboom of Port Colborne, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Production of a Controlled Substance and will appear in court in May to answer to these charges.
On March 28th, 2017 Police attended an address in Brampton and executed another search warrant in relation to this incident. The following day, 65-year-old Craig Ferguson turned himself into Police Headquarters, where he was arrested for 2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and 2 counts of Unlawful Production of a Controlled Substance. These charges are a result of September 20th, 2016 and March 23rd, 2017.
This investigation is still on going and it is possible that more people will be arrested in connection to the Pinecrest Road grow-op.
