Police say on Friday, January 6th, 2017, the Niagara Regional Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (I.C.E.) Unit engaged in a joint investigation initiated by members of the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) assigned to the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge in Niagara on the Lake.
As a result of the joint investigation, 32 year old Yazan AL NASHASH of Greenville, North Carolina, United States of America, has been arrested and charged with Possession of Child Pornography, and Importing Child Pornography contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
AL NASHASH has been held in custody, pending a Bail Hearing scheduled at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse, 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines.
The Niagara Regional Police Service is a member of the Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the internet and conducts investigations into Internet Child Exploitation Offences in partnership with numerous Ontario Police Services. This Project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
