It’s the unofficial start to the holiday season of shopping…Black Friday…are you in?!
Canadians of course now are also now in on the once US only shopping bonanza and most local malls and store have sales that you can get on board with. But, how is the Black Friday shopping trend going overall in the country of its origin?
You may find it surprising that in the US analysts say the hype appears to be fizzling not sizzling. In 2015 sales actually FELL an estimated 12 percent in store and the blame is placed squarely on online deals.
The trend does not seem to be going away either with the National Retail Federation saying online sales are expected to increase between 7 and 10 percent this holiday season to as much as $117 billion. (Cyber Monday anyone?)
