The Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) continues to investigate a number of residential break and enters that have occurred in the Town of Niagara on the Lake since January of 2016.
While some of the incidents did involve forced entry to the homes, some were residences that were left unlocked. The Niagara Regional Police Service would like to remind all property owners to consider the following security tips:
Tips
– Ensure your residence entry points and vehicles are left locked “Lock it or Lose it”
– Consider an alarm system with an exterior siren and flashing light. Place decals on your windows and doors.
– Secure backyard gates.
– Consider a dog
– Motion lights
– Valuables such as expensive jewelry and other collectibles should be secured in locked safes and not left on display in bedrooms or stored in unlocked dressers.
Community members are also being urged to report any suspicious people and/or vehicles they see in their neighbourhood throughout the day.
