I got a cool email from a proud mom recently. Her kids had just delivered a beautiful gift of supplies for the animals. They had planned an event, and raised $100!
It was their idea to donate the money to help the shelter animals. They had fun shopping for things they knew the animals needed. It felt great to walk into the shelter with their baskets and bags knowing they had done something special, and important. (MAIN PIC: Claire, Joseph and Mia Maraldo)
Claire, Joseph and Mia Maraldo are kids with beautiful hearts. Their annual lemonade stand could have been a way to raise money to do something fun for themselves, but Claire suggested it would be really nice to help the animals, and everyone agreed. Amazing!!
They were motivated to make the lemonade stand bigger and better than ever so they could succeed in their fundraising idea.
They used wooden skids and extra materials from around the house, and they helped their dad make the stand. They got some balloons and made a cool sign. They made loom bracelets, and made lemonade and iced tea too, and the fundraising began! Joseph said he thought the animals were going to like them a lot, and Mia agreed!
In only five hours, $100 was raised! Mayor Diodati, and some local policemen and paramedics were some of their customers, how cool is that?
Claire, Joseph and Mia are very happy and proud of their fundraising project, and their parents are too.
We’re so grateful to the Maraldo family for reaching out to help the homeless animals in our community. It is people like you that make our work easier, and helps us restores our faith in people.
Thank you, kids, for being amazing!! (and PS, Joseph was right, the animals DO like you a lot!!)
