Police say, on Monday, August 15th, 2016, at approximately 3:04 p.m., members of the Niagara Regional Police Service, Niagara Emergency Medical Service and the Welland Fire Service responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision in the intersection of East Main Street at Moyer Road in the City of Welland, Ontario.
Investigators have determined that a lone 61 year-old male from St.Catharines, was operating a 2008 Dodge Caravan in a westerly direction towards the intersection of East Main Street and Moyer Road. At the same time, a 20 year-old female from Port Colborne, was operating a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound on East Main Street towards the intersection at Moyer Road.
The Malibu contained two passengers, a 22 year-old male also from Port Colborne, and a 24 year-old male from the Province of Alberta. The Dodge and the Chevrolet subsequently came into collision within the intersection.
The 22 and 24 year-old passengers in the Chevrolet received life-threatening injuries in the collision and were transported by air-ambulance to an out-of-region trauma center. Both drivers involved in this collision received minor injuries. This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit.
