Police say that on Tuesday, August 2, at 6:32 am, Emergency Services responded to a house fire 788 Pinecrest Rd. Port Colborne. On arrival they found the home fully engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished by the Port Colborne Fire Department, with severe damage to the home, $200,000 value.
A male was arrested at the scene by Uniform members of the Niagara Regional Police Service. Due to a medical condition, he was transported to the Welland County General Hospital.
Further investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office, Port Colborne Fire Prevention and Detectives from the Central Region led to charges being laid. Charged is Johanes BLIEK, 65 yrs. of Port Colborne with Arson and Uttering Threats. BLIEK is being held by police pending the outcome of a Bail Hearing.
