Police say, on Sunday May 08 2016 shortly before 02:00 am, Niagara Regional Police and EMS responded to a medical assitance call to the Belmont Hotel at 175 King Street in Port Colborne. On arrival, a male was found unresponsive on the floor of the bar. The male was transported by ambulance to Welland County General Hospital and subsequently transported by air ambulance to Hamilton General Hospital with serious injuries.
A criminal investigation commenced which led to the identification and subsequent arrest of 20 year old Nicholas BENNER of Port Colborne, for Aggravated Assault. The male was later released on an Officer-in-Charge Undertaking with a court date of July 08 2016.
