Police say, at approximately 8:30 PM on Monday April 18th, 2016 the Niagara Emergency Medical Services, Niagara Regional Police Service and Niagara Falls Fire Services were dispatched for a motor vehicle collision on Mountain Road near the QEW in the City of Niagara Falls, within the Region of Niagara, Ontario.
Initial investigation revealed that a 22-year-old Niagara Falls male was driving his 2002 Acura motor vehicle westbound on Mountain Road when he made a left turn into a private driveway across the path of an eastbound 1998 Suzuki motorcycle. The motorcycle came into collision with the passenger side of the Acura in the eastbound lane on Mountain Road. The 40-year-old male operator and the 30-year-old female passenger were thrown from the motorcycle and landed on the roadway. The motorcycle slide into the westbound lane and was struck by a westbound 2015 Subaru motor vehicle that was being driven by a 39-year-old female.
The driver and passenger of the motorcycle suffered life threatening injuries and were transported to hospital by ambulance. The driver was later air lifted to a Hamilton hospital and the female passenger was transferred to a Hamilton hospital by ambulance where they both remain in serious condition. The two occupants in the Acura and the one occupant in the Subaru did not suffer any injuries.
This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit.
