Police say, at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Saturday April 9th 2016, an officer assigned to the Niagara Regional Police Service Traffic Enforcement Unit observed a Black BMW in the parking lot of 525 Welland Avenue in the City of St Catharines with three males sleeping inside.
When police spoke with the occupants of the vehicle they observed drugs and drug-related paraphernalia in plain view. As a result, the occupants of the vehicle were arrested for possession of a controlled substance. A search of the occupants and the vehicle resulted in the seizure of over $5000 in cash and Cannabis Resin in the form of “Shatter”. The three adult males, Philippe SAVOIE, Tommy LAFLAMME and Jason LAFONTAINE-VEZINA all residents of Quebec, face charges of Possession of Marihuana, Possession of Cannabis Resin, Possession of Cannabis Resin for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Proceeds of Trafficking.
All three males are being held for a Bail Hearing on Sunday April 10th, 2016.Officers of 1 District patrol unit assisted in this investigation and the team work of both patrol and the traffic enforcement unit was a major factor in the success of this investigation.
