Lean on me when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carry on.
We chose the name Lean On Me for our column because it seems to fit what we do and how we feel at our little shelter. We want to be that soft place to land for any pet finding themselves vulnerable, homeless, injured or unwanted. We welcome them to lean on us and trust us to be their voice, to do what’s best for them, to be their friend and help them find a healthy, happy, safe forever family. (Below Abby looking for a home)
I think Lean on Me works both ways. Our pets offer us an unquestioning loyalty and loving friendship, and they are always there for us. I know my little Truman knows exactly what I need. He provides me with comfort, humour, playtime, quiet time, and always his absolute love. I can’t imagine life without the wonky little guy.(Below Destiny from NFHS…what a cutie! )
We’re looking for volunteers right now, and you may be shocked to find the long list of volunteer options we have. Are you crafty? If so, can you donate home- made items for our little store? Would you like to drive the animals to their vet appointments? Do you enjoy home repairs? Can you help us fix some kennels and make some simple renovations? Are you a gardener? Could you help us beautify our shelter? The list is long! Contact Linda, our volunteer coordinator, at volunteercoordinator@niagarafallshumanesociety.com if you want to hear more about our volunteer programs. (Below, beautiful Butterfly at NFHS)

We provide take out too. The dinners are at the Chippawa Legion from 4:30 to 6:30. (Below marvelous is Cupcake at NFHS)
