Police say, the NRPS attended the Real Canadian Superstore located at 361 South Service Rd in the town of Grimsby. Officers attended in response to a “theft in progress” call involving multiple suspects.
Loss Prevention Officers reported that two women and two men entered the retail establishment and attended the electronics section. One man was observed on video surveillance bending down and attempting to forcefully open a locked compartment within the store. The three other suspects stood watch as the man made several attempts to force the door of the locked compartment. The man was unable to gain access to the locked the compartment prompting the suspects to separate and attend other areas of the store, concealing items along their path.
One of the male suspects and one of the female suspects attempted to exit the store with the stolen merchandise without paying. The suspects were confronted by police as they exited. The female suspect was placed under arrest while the male suspect was able evade police and flee in a vehicle. Moments later, the remaining male and female suspects were arrested as they attempted to exit the store.
The following persons were arrested and charged with Theft Under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada:
Jessica St.Jules, 19 years of Hamilton was released with an appearance notice.
Janet Holmes, 25 years of Haldimand was transported to the NRPS Central Holding and subsequently released on a Promise to Appear.
Christopher Logan, 35 years of Hamilton was released with an appearance notice.
Police are requesting the assistance of the public to locate the fourth person involved in this incident. Dustin Johnston, 27 years of Hamilton is wanted by the NRPS for one count of Theft Under $5000.
Johnston fled the scene in a blue 2005 Mazda 3 bearing a New Brunswick license plate NDJ238. Johnston is wanted by several police services and is believed to be armed with a handgun. Members of the public should not approach Johnston.
