Police say on February 17, 2016, detectives from the #3 District Criminal Investigation Branch conducted an investigation into an incident that occurred within the Niagara Falls police station located at 4343 Morrison Avenue. As a result of the investigation, on duty Niagara Regional Police Constable Candice Wilson has been arrested.
Constable Wilson has been charged with the offence:
– Pointing a firearm contrary to section 87 of the Criminal Code of Canada.
She has been released from custody with a future court date.
Constable Wilson has been a police officer for 6 years; and is presently assigned to #2 District Niagara Falls uniform patrol. This incident did not involve a member of the public.
In accordance with the Police Service Act of Ontario, Constable Wilson has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the ongoing criminal investigation.
Further details of this matter will not be released at this time as the matter is before the courts and the investigation is ongoing.
