Police say, on Saturday January 9, 2016, at approximately 2:15 a.m., officers from Niagara Regional Police Service, were called to investigate an assault that had occurred on St Paul Street, near James Street, in downtown St. Catharines.

 

The victim in this investigation was walking with a group of friends, when he was approached and assaulted by a male whom they were not familiar with.  The assault was unprovoked and unannounced to the victim, who suffered significant facial injuries as a result.

The suspect to this point in the investigation has yet to have been identified.  Images of the suspect were captured on numerous video surveillance sources in the area.  They are described as being male, white, early 20’s in age, with a thin build and  a goatee style mustache.  The suspect was wearing a green and white Boston Celtics zip up jacket and a multi-coloured toque at the time of the assault.  Photographs generate from video surveillance footage have been attached, in hopes of requesting assistance from the public in identifying the person responsible for the assault.
