Police say, between Saturday January 30th 2016 at 12:00 p.m. to Sunday January 31st 2016 at 3:30 a.m., unknown culprit(s) gained entry into the fenced in compound that surrounds the Niagara Safety Village.
The Niagara Safety Village is a small village made up of a variety of 25 hollow miniature buildings and two safety vehicles (ambulance + school bus). This village is used by junior elementary children to attend to learn about road safety and is located on the Niagara College Welland Campus.There was damage to 21 out of the 25 miniature buildings and the two vehicles including a total of 24 broken windows of a variety of sizes, 5 metal doors and damage to a wooden railing.
The culprit(s) also demolished the decommissioned Ambulance and the decommissioned school bus. In total the estimated damage is in excess of $20,000.
This was a senseless crime and police are asking for assistance from the public in solving this crime. Anyone with information is asked to call the #3 District Detective Office at 905-688-4111 extension 3320.
