Let’s PAINT THE TOWN RED with Heart Niagara at Club Italia Thursday February 4, 2016! There will be much to celebrate because Heart Niagara has been providing so many life changing programs to the niagara area for over 30 years!
One of their huge milestones has been the successful implementation of the Healthy Heart Schools’ Program to students in Grades 5, 7 and 9 where Heart Niagara delivers programs to over 30 secondary and 100 elementary schools in Niagara reaching more than 6,000 families annually.
Students have their height, weight, waist circumference, cholesterol and blood pressure measured in grade nine and a follow-up class is provided to certify students in CPR and AED. The results are used to help educate students about heart disease risk factors, the importance of living a heart healthy lifestyle and the tools necessary to respond in case of emergency. “Heart Niagara relies on community events, donations and grants to continue our investment in the health of Niagara kids and their families,” Stearne said. “Every dollar donated and raised stays in Niagara to support Niagara.” Join us for a night that includes an antipasto bar, entertainment, and silent auction to celebrate the program’s many accomplishments.
Part of the evening’s entertainment will be Blues Prodigy, Spencer MacKenzie! Check him out in action below:
The 16-year-old Ridgeway resident was chosen by the Canal Bank Shuffle blues festival committee to be Niagara’s representative in the youth category at this month’s International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Additionally, MacKenzie will also be performing in the Canadian Showcase sponsored by the Ottawa Blues Society. He is also set to release a five-song EP in February.
MacKenzie and his band the Young Rebels — Miles Evans (keyboards), Adam Poehlman (drums) and Evan Burrison (bass) — will take to the stage at Club Italia so don’t miss it!
The event runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and will feature an antipasto bar and silent auction. Tickets are $39 and can be purchased by calling 905-358-5552, email info@heartniagara.com or visit Heart Niagara’s website a twww.heartniagara.com.
