Wind warning in effect for:
- Niagara Falls – Welland – Southern Niagara Region
Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.
Very strong southwesterly winds with frequent gusts to 90 km/h are expected to develop this afternoon in the wake of a sharp cold front forecast to blast eastward across the region.
An occasional gust to 100 km/h is possible near the shore of Eastern Lake Erie this afternoon.
These winds will be strong enough to cause some tree damage, with power outages also possible as a result.
The very strong winds will become more westerly and slowly diminish somewhat this evening.
Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.
These strong winds are the result of a cold front associated with a Colorado low crossing the Great Lakes.
