According to police, at approximately 9:05 a.m. on Sunday, September 27th, 2015 the Niagara Regional Police Service, along with the Lincoln Fire Services and the Niagara Emergency Medical Services responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck at the intersection of Ontario Street and King Street in the Town of Beamsville, within the Regional Municipality of Niagara, Ontario.
Initial investigation revealed that a 57-year-old Lincoln man was attempting to cross Ontario Street from west to east at the intersection of King Street. At the same time a 41-year-old Lincoln woman was operating her 2013 Hyundai Elantra eastbound on King Street. She was attempting to make a left-hand turn northbound onto Ontario Street. As the vehicle turned northbound, the front left corner of the Hyundai came into collision with the pedestrian causing him to ride up onto the hood and strike the windshield. The driver of the Hyundai stopped immediately, and the pedestrian fell off the hood of the vehicle and struck his head on the roadway.
The 57-year-old Lincoln man was taken to Hamilton Health Sciences General Site with life-threatening injuries, where he remains at this time in critical but stable condition. His name is not being released at this time.
The 41-year-old driver of the Hyundai was not physically injured in the collision.
This incident remains under investigation by Detectives of the Collision Reconstruction Unit. Any witnesses with information regarding this collision are asked to contact Investigators at (905) 688-4111, extension 5000.
