According to police,shortly after 1:00 am on Saturday, September 19, 2015 Uniform Patrol members of the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to the downtown area of St. Paul Street to investigate a report of an assault. A female was identified as the victim of the assault, and a second female was located inside a nearby nightclub and arrested in connection with the incident.
The victim was transported by Niagara Emergency Medical Services to the Niagara Health System St. Catharines Hospital. While at the hospital the victim’s condition took a turn for the worse; her injuries turned out to be more serious than initially assessed. She remains at the hospital in critical condition.
Charged with Aggravated Assault will be 27-year-old Ashley MacMillan of St. Catharines. She is scheduled to appear in St. Catharines Bail Court on September 20, 2015.
Investigators from the 1 District Detective Office are asking anyone who may have witnessed the assault to contact Detective Sergeant Shaun Parrent or Detective Constable Mike Baxter at (905) 688-4111 Extensions 4455 and 4307.
