According to police, at approximately 6:10 AM on Wednesday, September 9th, 2015, Niagara Emergency Medical Services, Niagara Regional Police Service and the St Catharines Fire Services were dispatched for a head on collision involving two motor vehicles on Niagara Street north of Agar Drive in the City of St Catharines, in the Region of Niagara.

Initial investigation revealed that a 2005 Dodge Neon motor vehicle was north bound and a 2002 GMC Sierra pickup truck was south bound on Niagara Street. At the curve in the roadway the two vehicles came into a head on style collision and both vehicles sustained extensive front end damage.

The 24 year-old male driver of the Dodge is a resident of Hamilton and had to be extricated from his vehicle by St Catharines Fire Services. This male suffered life threatening injuries and had to be air lifted to the Hamilton Health Sciences General Hospital Site where he remains in critical condition.

The 52 year-old male driver of the GMC is a resident of St Catharines and he was able to exit his vehicle. This driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to the Niagara Health System St Catharines Site by ambulance where he remains in stable condition.

This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Forensic Services Unit.
