According to police, at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12th, 2015 the Niagara Regional Police Service, along with the St. Catharines Fire Services and the Niagara Emergency Medical Services responded to reports of a motorcycle collision within the intersection of Seventh Street Louth and Third Avenue Louth in the City of St. Catharines, within the Regional Municipality of Niagara, Ontario.

 

Initial investigation revealed that a 31-year-old Grimsby man was operating his 2007 Suzuki XR1 1000 motorcycle southbound on Seventh Street Louth with a 38-year-old female passenger from Lincoln, Ontario.

At the same time a 20-year-old female from St. Catharines was operating a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound.  The 20-year-old female was stopped and attempted to make a west (left) turn onto Third Avenue.  As the Jeep was turning the Suzuki came into collision with the front right corner, causing both of the motorcycle riders to be ejected off the motorcycle.  The force of the collision caused the Jeep to roll-over.

The 20-year-old female driver of the Jeep was treated for serious injuries and released from the Niagara Health System St. Catharines Site.  The two motorcycle riders suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene, their names are not being released.

The collision remains under investigation by Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit, anyone with information regarding this collision are asked to contact investigators at 905-688-4111 x:5500.
