According to police, in June 2015, members of the Niagara Regional Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (I.C.E) Unit initiated an Investigation into the possession and distribution of Child Pornography, from an unidentified location within the City of Niagara Falls.
On August 6th, 2015 the investigation led Police to a specific residence in Niagara Falls. With the assistance of the Niagara Regional Police Service Technological Crimes Unit, a Criminal Code search warrant was executed at the residence and an arrest was made.
26 year old Niagara Falls resident, Mr. Joshua Aaron EVANS, has been arrested and subsequently charged with the following five Criminal Code offences:
Make Available Child Pornography Sec. 163.1(3) CC
Unlawfully Access Child Pornography Sec. 163.1(4.1) CC
Three counts Possession of Child Pornography Sec 163.1 CC
Mr. EVANS has been held in custody, pending a bail hearing scheduled for August 7th, 2015 at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse, 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines:
The Niagara Regional Police Service is a member of the Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the internet and conducts investigations into Internet Child Exploitation Offences in partnership with numerous Ontario Police Services. This investigative initiative has been made possible with financial assistance from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services and the Ministry of the Attorney General.
