According to police, on Sunday July 26th 2015 at approximately 4:11pm, members of the St. Catharines Fire Department and the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the residence located at 197 Glendale Avenue, in the city of St. Catharines in response to an active fire. This is the second time emergency personnel have responded to this residence in just over two weeks for deliberately set fires.
Upon arrival, police learned that a male was seen leaving the area on foot west bound on Glendale Avenue while carrying several bags.
Members of the 1 District Detective Office assumed the investigation and with the assistance from St. Catharines uniform officers, the suspect was identified as 29 year old Jason Bazylewski of St. Catharines.
Investigation revealed that this male was also responsible for the fire set at this same residence on Friday July 10th 2015. As a result, Jason Bazylewski was charged with two counts of arson, contrary to section 434 of the Criminal Code. He was held pending a bail hearing.
