According to police, during the morning of July 17th 2015 uniformed members of the Niagara Regional Police assigned to ‘A’ platoon were on general patrol in the City of Niagara Falls, when they observed a suspected drug transaction in a local motel parking lot.
A traffic stop was conducted shortly after and as a result the female driver of the vehicle was arrested. During a search incident to arrest police located Oxycodone, Hydromorphone, and Fentanyl patches, holding a potential street value of $5330. Police also located Canadian and American currency, and further evidence of drug trafficking.
A CDSA search warrant was applied for and granted for the woman’s residence, and with the assistance of ‘B’ Platoon members and the Niagara Falls Street Crime the warrant was executed at approximately 7:40pm. As a result of the search more Oxycodone, Hydromorphone and Fentanyl patches, holding a potential street value of $7300 was seized, along with further evidence of drug trafficking.
The total street value of the drugs seized from both the vehicle stop and the search warrant is $12,630.
60 year old Merina Diane NEWMAN is charged with:
Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Oxycodone) for the Purpose of Trafficking x3
Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Hydromorphone) for the Purpose of Trafficking x3
Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Fentanyl) for the Purpose of Trafficking x2
Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000.
NEWMAN was released from custody on an OIC/PTA Undertaking with a future court date.
